Each line below lists call sign, ARRL section,
grid square, stations worked, number of
grids worked, and score. Call areas; e.g. W3/,
have been prefixed to station calls outside
their call area to aid in sorting. National
leaders are indicated in (). Rovers are listed
as a separate station for each grid they
activated, and also at the end. There was
no official rover category for this contest.

Soapbox
Good activity early in the evening though it
dropped off quite a bit after 9 or so. Best
DX was VE3BFM in FN04 (he had a good signal all
evening) and VE3TFU in EN93 (K1TEO)... Lots of
stations heard and called, also called hundreds
of CQs. Disappointing from this "hole". Went QRT
after 9 PM after 45 minutes with no QSOs. (K2SPO)
Worked all I heard, 8 QSOs and 5 grids. Most
stations in the 175-275 mile range. (K5LLL) ... {who
would have been section leader had he included a log}.
First time 220 MHz, furthest contact EN81. Now for
June! (KB2SGX)... Really had to work for the 23
QSOs (KF0UK)... Highlight of the evening was working
W4JMA in EL86 on 144 MHz tropo. Never heard anything
on 222 MHz tropo (KM5FA)... {no entries from FL}...
Nothing like leaving the microphone at home for the
FT-736R, and the FM rig is Kenwood! I ALWAYS TAKE
A KEY!!! (W3SE/6)... Won't win anything with this
score! Highlight was VE3AX - FN02 (W4EUH)... Gale
force winds kept windmilling my antennas! Plus terrific
powerline QRN. Slight lift noted--W5LUA@383 mi was
easily worked (W5UWB)... Spent 30 minutes on test.
Rest of evening was giving a local a microwave demo.
47 GHz (NE8I)... Poor Condx. Poor Activity. Where
was everyone? But--still--FUN (N8XA)... Some grids
easily workable were conspicuously missing (FN03, FN30,
FN32--maybe somebody was on, but I sure didn't hear them!)
Some grids (FN21 & FN13) where there is known activity
were poorly represented. I am disturbed that some of the
known "big guns" who are high-profile ops were nowhere to
be found! They must understand that we use it or we lose
it! CW accounted for ~36% of my QSOs, a must for weak
signal V/UHF (WA2BPE)... Not a great score, but not so bad
either. Any score is better than not participating! DM12
is not the best grid for great scores because there are
usually no grids south and no grids west, only Mexico and
water (KF6IBB)... 110W brick amp. died @ the top of the
SPRINT...had to finish contest with CW only as amp was
outputing distorted SSB (KA1EKR)... Wow, 8 QSOs in 15
minutes! And thereafter it pretty much ended (W1AIM)...
Conditions were so so all night, but that makes it more fun
(VE2JWH)... Conditions were good, but several close grids
were missing! (AF1T)...

de Sponsor
Never dreamed there was this much 222 activity! The three
rovers each activated 4 adjoining grid squares. I would like
to see a rover category added to future SPRINTs; at least for
222 MHz and up.

Thanks to those of you who submitted your logs by the Internet
and put up with my nagging to get those logs in ASCII format when
they were not readable. Some of you will note your scores cut
in half--there's only one point per QSO instead of two as in the
other contests. Apologies if any of you have been placed in a
wrong ARRL section--many of you didn't indicate yours and I'm
not familiar with MA, PA, & NY ARRL section boundaries.
